SUSTAINABLE BEHAVIOURAL MANAGEMENT OF EMPLOYEES

In a recent article by Ruth Jenkins, recognised OHS Author, practitioner and all-round safety guru, Human Behaviour was listed as the # 1 reason for unsafe acts and incidents. This is due to a lack of impactful Behavioural Management Communication.

It is critical that important information is delivered in a way which is not only RECEIVED but RETAINED as well. Information alone is not memorable.

In this digital age, we are bombarded with information non-stop. Human attention spans are significantly shorter than they were 100 years ago. If you want to effectively convey a message, it better be INTERESTING and LIFE-RELATED RELEVANT!

The words ‘training’ or ‘manual’ does not inspire excitement in any of us. We live in a time where visual mediums are the quickest most effective way of getting your message across. We learn from WATCHING others do what we ‘want to do’ or ‘should avoid doing’. Think of you-tube tutorials et cetera.

It has even greater impact, if the communication medium is LIVE & INTERACTIVE, as individuals will MODEL, CORRECT and ADOPT into their day to day that which they have just experienced. This creates an indelible and unforgettable memory in the mind of your intended audience.

Behavioural Management of Employees can only be sustainable if the messages are conveyed in a way which will ‘move’ your workforce from a point of merely ‘DOING’ to a state of ‘BEING’.

The Adjustment Bureau’s focus is to change behaviour, by not only making interventions educational, but also ‘human’ and therefore memorable.
